There are two things I love the most: sunflowers and sunsets. And this was exactly my theme and vision for my maternity photoshoot.
I didn’t take maternity photos with my first pregnancy because I had just gotten married (lots of pictures) and already scheduled a newborn shoot and family photos for when he arrived. It felt like a photo overkill.
But this time, thanks to my husband’s hobby and the work of a talented friend, I decided to go all out.
This meant a long dress with a dramatic train. I rented mine by Mama Bump Rentals, which I could not recommend enough. Mamas get to select the date they need the dress for their maternity photoshoot and have it for 5 days before needing to return it. This means spending around $85 (with shipping) for a gown opposed to having to buy one that can cost upwards $200.
I wanted a deep red/ burgundy color to contrast yellow sunflowers that just scream fall to me for my fall baby. I am not a baby pink kinda mama so this was perfect.
I paired the dress with a floral crown from Amazon, did my own makeup and kept styled hair from a recent trip to my salon.
We shot at Holland Ridge Farms, known for its sunflower fields this time of year.
My son wore similar colors. His pants and shirt are from Children’s Place, with bowtie and suspender from Little Mister.
