One of the reasons why I have focused so much time on my blog is because I enjoy inspiring others, educating them and pushing them to strive for a healthy life. Living on my own, I learned quickly how bad fast food was for my body, gaining weight and always feeling sluggish. Over time, I learned how organic and fresh fruits and vegetables gave me energy and made me feel good. I also began running regularly changed many unhealthy habits.
Because of my school situation at the time, I moved back to my family’s house, which could seem like taking a step back in life to some. But for me, it turned out to be a fulfilling adventure. My family began to pick up on my healthy habits, ordered out less and shopping at local farmer’s market’s more. The junk left the cabinet and the refrigerator became full of greens, oranges, reds, and blues. My mom and sister began running with me every so often, even completing a few 5ks!
My mom got a personal trainer, while my sister and I worked our butt’s off in preparation for a Spartan Race. At one point, I looked back and realized that my healthy habits had influenced them to make healthier choices as well. That is when I decided to continue to motivate, inspire, and inform people on a wider scale via my blog!
That is why I am so honored to have been nominated for a Very Inspiring Blogger Award from one of my favorite bloggers (and Spartan “sister”), Olena from the blog candies & crunches. Olena is a superwoman when it comes to her fitness regime and always writes thoughtful and motivating posts.

Here are my seven facts:
1. I have been in a relationship for 9 years!!
Many people are shocked when they ask how long I have been with my boyfriend for. We met when I was about to 16 and started dating shortly after that. We have had some rough times over the years (what relationship doesn’t?), causing us to break up a few times, but these times apart never lasted long. Michael is absolutely my soul mate, but more importantly my best friend. He has taught me so much and has been my safe haven during every storm. When I am around him, I am at my happiest. He is my diamond in a world of coal.
2. I am a huge animal lover.
At one point I adopted two cats that had a litter of the cutest kittens I called little monsters. I currently have one cat, Ninja who lives up to her name. (My mom also has a cat a dog at home!) I have protested against the capturing of dolphins, which are one of my favorite animals. I did go deep-swimming with them once, which is an experience I will never forget. They are such smart and loving animals. (The place I went allowed them to free swim in large, open bodies of water, they were not put in tanks. I still know that condoning this is bad, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of being up close with these babies!) I plan on going horseback riding next week in Florida!
3. I am not a natural blonde! My mom says I was born with blond, curly hair like Shirley Temple, but it grew out to a wavy brown mess as I grew. I changed from browns, reds, and blondes over the years, but believe I am a blonde at heart!
4. I was on the track team as a child…but hated to run!
I myself am shocked that I love to run so much. In my childhood I was on the track and field team, winning a few team relays, but HATED running with a passion. Instead, I always was entered in the “walks,” winning a few silver and bronze medals along the way.
5. I am a bookworm.
As a kid, I would rather be inside reading than outside to play. I am currently reading “Mr. Mercedes” by Stephen King (The Shinning, one of my favorite books). Other recent reads were:
- Spartan Up by Joe De Sena
- Doctor Sleep by Stephen King
- Red Rising by Pierce Brown (One of my favorite books hands down..can’t wait for the next!)
- Tell No One by Harlan Coben
- Missing You by Harlan Coben
- The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld
- The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty
6. I am a middle child.
My sister is only ten-months older than me!! My younger sister is 4 years younger and we are inseparable. We will be celebrating her 21st birthday next week in Florida!
7. I got to hang out with one of my favorite bands.
If you don’t know them, check out Polica. They are the music of my soul. I have seen them perform 3 times now, each time in the front row. This last time my sister and I met the members outside and was invited to grab some drinks with them (minus Channy) afterwards. Not only are they incredible musicians, they are so down to earth and were so nice to us. It was probably one of the most memorable experiences ever—even if we I was a total groupie!
I decided to choose my 15 bloggers for a list of new blogs that I have begun to read. Here is the list of the blogs that I nominate!
